FBP Update: Blog Monetization course update, cookbook tips on the pod, and more! 🎉

Hi, Reader!

Happy Friday! It's the very last Friday of May, which means the long summer days are just around the corner.

From a big course update to hosting a renowned cookbook author on the podcast, it was a busy week for us here at FBP HQ! Let's dive right into this week's update below. ⬇️

Course Update: Blog Monetization 101

We recently updated our Blog Monetization 101 course! As a food blogger, you put so much work into each recipe, story, and photo, so it’s only natural to want that effort to not just be seen, but to support you!

This course focuses on teaching our members about the different avenues of blog monetization, from ads to affiliate marketing to digital content and freelancing. Bjork and Natalie talk about what each avenue actually is, then discuss the positives and negatives of each, and then they give some examples of sites using these avenues.

In this course, you’ll learn:

  • Different ways to earn an income through blogging
  • How Pinch of Yum uses affiliate links
  • The positives and negatives of sponsored content
  • And so much more!

Check out the full course here.

Welcome to episode 520 of The Food Blogger Pro Podcast! This week on the podcast, Bjork interviews Erin Clarke from Well Plated by Erin.

In this episode, we are thrilled to welcome back Erin Clarke (after 9 years!!!) to dive into the behind-the-scenes journey of traditionally publishing a cookbook — from developing the recipes and managing timelines to copy-editing and more. Erin opens up about how she balanced her cookbook projects with her ongoing blog work, as well as the challenges and rewards of publishing a cookbook.

Bjork and Erin also chat about the marketing side of cookbook creation — how Erin mapped out the social media strategy for her cookbook promotion, why she crafted all of her captions in advance, and how she documented the entire cookbook process on social media to create excitement and drive sales. Erin emphasizes that cookbook writing shouldn’t be motivated by money but by a passion for cookbooks and the long-term brand legitimacy and awareness that these books help build.

Takeaways:

  • The cookbook proposal is your blueprint.
  • Cookbook writing is a long game.
  • How to develop recipes that work.
